Barbara Shine leads workshops for beginning and more
experienced writers, presents talks on creativity and writing
from memory, works as a coach with individual writers, and
provides book editing and consultant services in
publication design and layout for authors and other clients.
- Writing and editing workshops can benefit individuals and
businesses. Different types of workshops are summarized

- Manuscript editing and proofreading services help
individual authors ensure that their work is free of
spelling, grammar, and usage errors before manuscripts
are submitted and as their books move through the
publishing process.
- One-on-one coaching is an aid to the writer who prefers
individual attention to the workshop experience. Working
through e-mail as well as face-to-face meetings, Ms. Shine
will provide assignments tailored to the client's skill level
and goals, detailed critique of the work, continual
encouragement, referral to other resources as needed.
- Book consultation allows a writer to obtain objective
guidance on how to proceed with a book project: Is it
publisher-ready? Should the writer send out a book
proposal? get an agent? self-publish? Would the book
benefit from added art?
- Publication design and layout are services Ms. Shine provides
for smaller projects, such as brochures, booklets, newsletters, and
chapbooks.
Ms. Shine is also available as a speaker, for groups of any
size, on the subjects of "Evoking the Muse" and "Writing Our

For all services, fees vary with the level of effort and time
required. Ms. Shine will negotiate a per hour or per project fee
